Good morning baseball fans,

GLOVE REPAIRS

I finished the glove repairs I had to do this week, so if in need of a repair just let me know.
I received the Rawlings baseball logo patch for my restoration project and the person sent the wrong one, Gezz! They have to be the older and smaller size. I gave the exact size logo patch needed and they said they had them in stock. But still, I received the new model patch.
I will have to do some other work before I can put up pictures of the new logo patch versus the old one. I have gotten two emails requesting to purchase the glove already, that's cool. I will vbe taking closed bids on this glove for the customer. As you know highest bid will get the glove. The glove will not be for sale until it is completed. I will take many pics for you to review.

BASEBALL BATS
I am going to make my own Baseball bat for summer play this year. I did it back in High school. I made one out of ash and one out of rock maple with a 12 grain on the maple bat. Little tighter than a 10 grain. If interested in having one made let me know.
Gotta get back to creating, take care.

Swing Batter,

Dutch
Good Morning to all,
Hope everyone is staying warm, as we all have thoughts of warmer weather. Yesterday, I spent some time on my latest commission piece. Something very simple, but creative. I was given pictures to add to this ice hockey goalie stick and I wanted to do something different besides just drill holes, install pucks and glue pictures on the pucks. It's been done to death and that's, not me.

So I came up with this initial idea called "A Moment in Time for Life" I liked the idea.
Now I have to do a sample before doing it on the customers stick with his pictures. I will add a picture on how I laid out the pictures on the stick.

Have to wait for the rest of the crew to get up and moving before heading out to get some products. At $3.50 plus a gallon you have to know plan out your daily driving needs. We did B4, but now is even more important, to do so.

I just got an email from my ice hockey customer and he has told a lot of people about his commissioned piece of art. They are all excited to see what I do. Hopefully they'll enjoy it, when finished, we'll see. I have to go and update my baseball log now. Have a creative day. Dutch

BASEBALL GLOVE REPAIR UPDATE

Hi to everyone,

I finally caught up on Friday evening with baseball glove repairs. GUESS NOT! My wife just said we received two boxes of gloves. One with three baseball gloves from Fargo, North Dakota and one with a "Please Restore" request. So I guess I have some work to do.

I just received in the one box a restoration project of a:
Rawlings Model # 6350 Professional "MICKEY MANTLE"

The customer wants me to restore it and re-sell the glove. This glove is very valuable and will go for big bucks, so if any of you are interested let me know. The glove will be priced and sold after complete restoration ONLY.

I now stock colored leather glove lacing.

Thanks for reading my blog.

Commisioned work progress

On this past Saturday, February 19th. I finally got some time to conjure up some design ideas for my latest accepted recycled commission piece of art for a Hockey dad. I am starting out with a (broken third time replaced $230.00 + goalie stick) out of it for him and his son. So that's where I was at on Saturday.

So far, I have put together an idea to mix the stick with pictures , lighting, plexiglass, netting and goal cage materials. I think it was a very constructive creative time period for me. Just brought the stick home yesterday. I am looking for some other recycled items now.

The other thing I did this week end was I started to expand my 1 of 1 studio to 240 square feet. I know it does not sound like a lot but, it is for me. I still retained my old work space which we are changing into our staining and painting room only (AKA) clean room, Ha!, Ha!, we all know that is not true. We are very excited about the expanded creative space.

I will add pictures of my new shop when I get all the goodies together and start to assemble the work space. I forgot to add my original six carvings from the 80's when I started carving. So I will add those too.

If you are interested in having me do something for you let me know. I am currently working on 4 commissions right now. I also had a Vermont person inquire the other day on the types of art I had for sale ( I do not make stuff and then sell them, I only do commissioned work) and the types of work I do. I try all mediums of carving. I know there are many carvers out there better than myself. What is better though? I responded to Vermont, so I may have 5 commissioned pieces to work on.

I am looking into trying my hand at some artistic leather masks. you could use them for display or to wear to parties or the Renaissance festivals. If interested let me know. Thanks for taking the time to read my blog today.
